How we protect your financial information — and what we don’t claim.
Effective 9 August 2026 · Updated 12 August 2026You’re trusting TextLedger with receipts, business expense data, and in some cases an accountant’s contact information. We built the Service with that responsibility in mind. This page lays out plainly how your information is handled.
Encryption
Data sent to and from TextLedger — including receipt images and message content — is encrypted in transit. This applies to every message and image sent to the Service, on any supported channel.
Where your data lives
Receipt data and images are stored with reputable, security-conscious infrastructure providers. We do not store your information on personal devices or unmanaged systems. Processing of receipt images, to extract merchant, date, time, and amount, is handled by a trusted third-party AI provider under standard data-processing terms — your images are not used to train public models.

Data ownership
- You own your records. TextLedger is a custodian of your data, not the owner of it.
- You can export everything, at any time — text EXPORT and it comes to you in an open format.
- You can request deletion at any time, by emailing support@gotextledger.com.
- We never sell your information to third parties.
How receipt images are protected
Each receipt image is tied only to the phone number that sent it. Access to raw data is limited to what is operationally necessary to run the Service, troubleshoot problems, and respond to your support requests.
Sharing with your accountant
Exports are sent to you, at the email address on your own account, and nowhere else. If you want your bookkeeper or accountant to have the file, you forward it yourself.
We do not send your records to a third party on your behalf, and we do not contact anyone you have not asked us to contact.
